Marshmallows & Melodrama

Yesterday was granny time again, and this time, as the girls' little tapestries are finished, the decided fun activity was making their own marshmallows. This was the first time that I ever saw anyone making these and so it was extremely interesting for me. This recipe has now been passed from generation to generation, and I am sure that the girls will make these often, because not only are they soooo easy to make, but they are much tastier than store-bought ones.

Don't forget the coconut flakes in your recipe and Granny Zan did, and also don't forget to roast them in your oven, and then to let the coconut cool before rolling the marshmallows in it. I didn't take a photo of the finished product, and when I thought to, they were all gone - so I'll be sure to make it again soon so that I can show you how lovely they look - or you could just make it yourself and see...enjoy!

After Granny-time, the girls had Junior Youth, which has started up now that the schools are back, and Rachel came back an hour early crying her little heart out as she had been pulled along the church floor and got a carpet burn - shame it really wasn't very pleasant, but for my budding little actress this was the perfect opportunity to make the most of the attention.

Thankfully she is feeling much better today! I always find it amazing how quickly the body heals - we serve such an awesome, all-wise, all-knowing, caring God!

Baptismal Service

We were so blessed to have had 7 soon-to-be-members go through the waters of baptism yesterday...

We rejoice with the angels in heaven - Hallelujah!!!

Easter Fellowship

Krugersdorp Baptist Church has a wonderful tradition on Easter Sunday namely a sunrise service at 6am. I was surprised to see about 40 committed Christians coming together to listen to God's Word and see the sun rise in the cold...although it wasn't really that cold at all. This wonderfully exillerating time outside is then followed by a hearty breakfast together in the church, which the Year for Lifers prepared with some help from some other ladies in the church. After that people left to go back home to get ready for the normal 10 o 'clock service. It was really a wonderful morning of meditation, challenge and fellowship.

We then had the Krause family over for lunch and then a spontaneous supper, as they only left late into the evening - good fellowship is just so addictive.

Zani was so excellent with the girls, and kept them busy pretty much the whole day and even got them ready for bed - she sure will be a good mom one day! Thanks Zani!

Lady in Red???

Last week Saturday....boy time reall flies....we had another Young Adults Games Evening, where we ventured out of our comfort zones and tried this well-loved South African game 'Noot vir noot'. I must say that most of us felt rather unaquainted with many of the South African well known songs, and found that it was difficult even guessing the one's we did know as everything sounded kind of like a traditional Afrikaans melody. Songs like 'Lady in Red' or 'Hotel California' were mysteriously hidden with either a wrong tempo or just simply the wrong feel...I guess 'Die Musiek Fabriek' did their best - but as for us, we mostly a good laugh.

You know...UNO!

Yesterday afternoon we had a great time with Glen's dad and stepmom. They came over after lunch and spent the afternoon with us, playing games and chatting. Of course they spoiled the girls with easter eggs and little gifts - like grandparents often do! And then after an afternoon of fun we shared a meal together, which Pinky prepared, it was a simple dish, but most delicious!

Sherilee-ann even let the girls pamper her...

or is it torture? I guess that depends on how you look at it :-)

Sugar, as usual had to be part of the gathering, and as is custom these days gathered at our feet. (Usually he would be gathered on your shoes)

As you can see UNO was the game for the girls for the afternoon, and politics and other 'interesting' coversation was the boy's entertainment for the day.

A blessed family get-together, with good company, good food, and good mood!
